Our Christmas colours for this year's festivities were plum and white. So, for our table arrangements, I used my favourite flowers: hydrangeas and ranunculus, and mixed them with a plum coloured leaf.

I can't take responsibility for the creativity of this arrangement, although I made it myself! I saw one that was almost exactly the same in the Hofland catalogue, and thought it would go perfectly in my Dad's newly renovated house. So I basically recreated. My dad didn't realize that's how cotton looked as a plant and was VERY excited when he saw how cool it is. I just love cotton!

For a baby shower designed with my fellow inBloom peeps, yellow button mums work! I love little yellow poofs of flowers.

I was commissioned by Darlene Martin's Bijouxbead to make a nice big flower arrangement that matched her logo, for the opening reception of her line of gorgeous luxury beaded jewelery. She needed it to be red and white, fashionable, and last for 14 days! I decided to do a simple mass of James Storey orchids, placed in a start white modern vase. Do you think it matches the colours and style of the logo? I think so!

The infamous vintage circus wedding photos as featured in the Winter 2009 issue of Wedluxe Magazine. It seems that our company, inBloom Event Design, always seems to get the vintage jobs, which we sure do love. For the centerpieces, we went for big, lush white dahlias, queen anne's lace and yellow craspedia for a pop of fun! Same thing for the bouquet. The bride wanted a quirky bouquet. And of course, a quirky bouttoneire for the groom: craspedia and dusty millar from the garden. For table styling: queen anne's lace and white snapdragons. white simple vintage flowers a la prohibition era

Sorry for the delay in posts! Needless to say, I have been busy with our event design company, inBloom Event Design. However, I'm catching up this New Years Day to show some of my favourite florals that I've done over the year. These are the only pics I have of some simple vintage flower arrangements I made for the Rethink Romp: Prohibition event, put on by Rethink Breast Cancer in Toronto. You can't see much, but I think you can get the idea - white anenomes, white spider mums in mason jars. Trying to conjure the feeling of the simple, vintage prohibition era!

A spunky scent-free (yes, scent-free!) hand tied bouquet for Helen...made of purple anemones, purple orchids, yellow and red ranunculus, yellow tulips, purple thistle and willow branches.

white casual and loose centerpieces

For an upcoming magazine article, my fellow 'Bloomer Joelle and I created these casual, loose white centrepieces this weekend. We used different rustic vessels that emulated a simple garden style, in different sizes and textures, and filled them with blooming cherry blossom branches, white ranunculous, white peonies, white orchids, white chrysanthemums and white carnations. There's nothing more beautiful than a simple cluster of monochromatic white blooms!

And here is the nautical bouquet for Brides.com (see below for more of a description of the project!) - I used white tulips, a white and navy ribbon and red starfish for a simple, modern take on the nautical theme.

Brides.com asked our event design company inBloom Event Design to style some beach or nautical inspired centerpieces and bouquets for their online magazine. So, with the help of my partner, Joelle, I created two types of centerpieces. Both in a tin pail, which reminded me of a child's pail at a beach - but one going for a more modern nautical look with a striped ribbon, and the other with a lacy navy ribbon to channel an antique nautical style. The flowers used are peonies, ranunculus, white anasastias and white garden roses. It smelled divine!

For a tea party bridal shower the other day, I made these arrangements for the buffet table. The first is in a giant tea cup and saucer - how appropriate! The other three are in old antique tea tins...I used a mixture of peonies, hydrangeas, yellow orchids, craspedia, white chrystanthemums and green spider chrysanthemums, greenery, cherry blossom branches and yellow roses.

For one of my favourite people and her mom (who is also one of my favourite people), I made this Christmas Day centerpiece. I tried to go modern (to match the style of these wonderful women) but classic, using parrot tulips (i have a new found love for parrot tulips), mixed with yellow pincushion, a white mum, a stem of green orchid, and some cool red berries I found. I wanted each side to be different, so it was a surprise any which way you look at it. I found a nice matte black bowl at Homesense, to be used even after the flowers disappear!

For our dear family friend, Pauline, who has impeccable classic taste, I made this traditional holiday arrangement, using red roses, but adding parrot tulips help add a funky flair!

What type of holiday floral arrangement do you make for the dining room table of one of the most talented design gurus, with the most impeccable taste, that you know? Something modern and simple, but a bit funky too, I decided. I created this out of red winter berries, using the architecture of the tree branches as the main focal point, set in a bed of green reindeer moss, in a silver vase with clean modern lines.

just peonies

Sometimes, all you need is just a pail of peonies. Nothing else. Just a simple bunch of pink beautiful peonies.

cymbidium + mokara orchids

A co-worker of mine recently asked me to do up a housewarming arrangement for her friend. I wondered to myself, what seems warm and cozy, but also interesting and spunky to match the fresh feelings of moving in to a new place? I surprised myself with a crazy concoction of orange mokara spray orchids and roses, with white hydrangea and pink cymbidian orchids. The results are above...what do you think? Note: to make hydrangeas last, you have to cut them, put them in boiling water for 30 seconds, then immediately plunk them in cold water before placing them into the arrangement. Believe me, I learned this lesson the hard way! They sure are beautiful flowers but quite high maintenance. They are "the princesses" of all flowers!

kermits and spider mums

There's one thing my sisters and I adore - kermits and spider mums. I tried to put more of a Christmas spin on it, by adding green berries and white roses too.

I made this one for my good friend Rebecca's birthday. She's such a sunny, happy person, and she loooves gardens, so I wanted to make her a cheerful arrangement in a vase that she didn't have to throw out when the flowers wither away...

green ranunculus

There's something so deliciously eye candy-ish about ranunculus. It evokes the same feeling in me as Cinnabon. It's expensive here in Ontario - too bad we don't live in Israel, where apparently it grows in fields and is super cheap when in season! I'll be going to Israel next summer, so I'll be sure to pick up a bundle and enjoy paying a cheap but pretty penny for it!

i love anthurium

I do love anthurium - sometimes i can't believe they are real. They are truly marvels of the world, and should be up there with Niagara Falls and Stonehenge in my opinion. Paired with pincushions + yellow kermits...bliss!
